ok so ive mostly had enough time to mull over the ending and man. i have a lot to say. this is gonna be kinda scattered sorry im bad at verbalizing my thoughts

i think ill start with my thoughts on olga. at first i considered her to be my main negative of the story, but her part in act 3 really changed my opinion. at first when they confirmed outright that specimen e was olga and that marisbury watched her get tortured i thought olga's suffering was getting to a cartoonish level. like i wasn't feeling 'oh i feel so bad for her' anymore and more so 'this is torture porn' ig? i just think you dont need to make a character go through the worst things ever to make people feel sympathetic to them. plus the addition of 'olga is fusing in chaldeas and we need to save her (again)!!' was annoying me, but then the reveal that her soul was fighting chaldeas internally to give us a fighting chance. man. although its techincally a different version of the director we talked to in the beginning of the game, i'm glad she got to actually do something out of her own prerogative. hopefully 2.5 has more cool moments like that and not her being a damsel for the millionth time. her new sprite is so cutesy...

speaking of marisbury, hes probably one of my favorite parts of the finale. ive been a big fan of him since day one so there is a bit of bias i suppose, but man the finale made me like him even more. i am a bit sad that this is probably the only screen time he'll get, but im also very satisfied with what we got. i love the (singular) conversation he had with solomon. their relationship is so so interesting i wish we got to see them interact more. he's such a good case study on how moral purity doesnt absolve you of making mistakes or doing evil things. ugh i want him back. i need to see more of this weirdo. also his in-game reveal and the reaction to it was so funny. i dont remember the studio behind the babylonia anime but the way they drew/presented him was kinda whatever, but the way takeuchi and koyama drew him??? why did they make him so pretty. both top and bottom lashes is insane. it was incredible seeing so many people from both the en, jp, and kr side agree that marisbury was the one who got pregnant.

this tweet has been cracking me tf up. even funnier considering that olga's mom has literally never been mentioned. congrats to marisbury for being the first male mother i guess. also side note, until the finale release i genuinely thought marisbury had gold eyes like olga? i swear i remember seeing fanart of him w/ gold eyes too...

ok what else... the scene between sion and nemo in the end was so good. 'captian nemo will foever be sion's servant' MAN. sion was such an unsung hero of the story. sad shes probably not returning for part 3 whenever thats happening. and the scene with holmes, 'solomon' and fou was great too. the 'i'll stay here for awhile longer since i can still see the storm border' from holmes oh my god. genuinely so happy he was able to come back for the finale. da vinci's reaction when he returned...oughh...also fou leaving..? makes sense ig but we lost our mascot what the hell. ik theyre implying that olga is responsible for 2.5, or that its related to prototype, but i think itd be funny as hell if it turns out fou was the true culprit. but my actual prediction is beast merlin. like 'solomon' compared fou to merlin calling them both 'beasts of the planet' like cmonnn. throw me a bone here ive been harping on this concept for years now...

the raids. it was great seeing the lb casts in action again (though no camazotz cameo. sigh.) the lineups for the teams were funny as hell though. like the hardest hitter for the lb1 tree was ivan i think, meanwhile lb4 tree had the entire indian pantheon? i also wished i grinded a bit more during the raids. i probably did like 200+ rounds in total which is a lot for me, but for the average fgo thats like baby numbers. i literally still have 500+ gold apples grinding in this game sucks ass dude. also all the cameos for the 'm spectrum' tree made me smile so much. particulary cheered when harunobu and kagetora showed up.

also the final boss. nasu was not lying when he recommended players to be in a quiet room and to have the volume up!!! the raids ended at like 5:30am for me so that definately added to the experience. THE IN-ENGINE GUDA SPRITE!!!!! ik they already had one from christmas abby and summer tiamat but still!! all the cameos from the crypters and the allies from the lbs made me so emotional. was literally about to vry when kadoc showed up. oberon's cameo was awesome. genuinely thought he was flipping us off. and the ending credits oh my god they were so beautiful. it felt like what the 10th anni mv should've been. the fact that oberon was representibg lb6 instead of morgan was so funny to me. and the part with oberon and castoria was so so pretty...

but anyways, what do i think about the ending in general? yeah i like it. the fate franchise has always been about meetings and partings and fgo executed this theme amazingly. like yeah fgo will eos one day for whatever reason, but doesnt mean the time spent on it will be meaningless. fgo has definately become something important to me and will probably continue to influnce aspects of my life. literally reminds me of two lines that made me love the fate franchise: "Someday, my memories of her will fade. Her voice, her actions—I might forget them as well. But even then, I will always remember that I loved her." and "Even a story that will be forgotten once its last page has been turned, left behind by the speed of reality—it should have the right to continue existing."
